Belleek History:

Belleek Pottery has a long history, dating back to 1849 when John Caldwell Bloomfield inherited his father's estate in Belleek, Ireland, and wanted to provide employment for his tenants after the Famine. The company began by making domestic products, but in 1863 it began producing Parian ware, for which Belleek is now famous. By 1865, the company's prestige had grown enough that it sold to customers in Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, and the United States, including the Prince of Wales and Queen Victoria.

During the Victorian era, Belleek Pottery employed over 300 people, making it a significant player in the Irish economy. The company's innovative designs and strategic expansion helped it secure a place on the global stage of fine ceramics, a position it still enjoys today.

Belleek continues to create new designs, while also being mindful of its history and craft heritage. The company's museum features many products made over the pottery's 165-year history, as well as cabinets and displays that show the design and production process.
